Is a good night’s sleep worth $33,000? The people over at E.S. Kluft & Co. seem to think so. Their Palais Royale, hand tufted, king sized mattress and box spring retails for that much. The mattress is made up of 10 layers and 10 pounds of mohair, silk and New Zealand wool, cashmere, and layers of natural latex foam and organic cotton. The American made mattress takes 3 days to be constructed by 10 craftsmen. Think sleeping on $33,000 is nothing, the company plans to roll out the Sublime model later this year at $44,000. How about that for luxurious sleeping?

Remember how unpractical classroom chairs used to be? Well thanks to Steelcase classrooms and conference rooms can have more useful, interactive chairs. The node chair is mobile, as a computer chair and also features a swivel seat. Now group work can be easily manipulated, and focus can be shifted to any area of the room with a quick swivel. The chair also features storage at the base of the chair. Backpacks, briefcases, purses and other belongings now have a safer place to be stored than in walkways. The arms are also designed to store additional hanging bags. The optional work surface is adjustable and accommodates right-handed or left-handed people and swivels along with the seat of the chair. The node is such a good choice it was one of top picks by dailyfix from day 3 of  the NeoCon Trade Fair 2010.

Goodbye Formal Living Room

Gone are the days when there were formal living rooms and separate rooms for watching TV and family time. Today most people want to get the most use out of all their rooms, so prohibiting use of a room except for special occasions is out. There are now ways to keep your living room elegant, comfortable, and casual enough for every day use. The flat screen TV and swivel chair are the two pieces of furniture paving the way. The flat screen is sleek enough to camouflage in a well decorated room and provide entertainment. To recreate the formal room’s intimate setting for conversation, all seating should be facing.  Swivel chairs perform double duty because they can be turned in toward other seating, or around facing the TV. Get more use out of your living room by stopping by mertinsdykehome to see our cool new swivel chairs, and don’t worry you can check in with foursquare!
